Yes, but on an irrelevant part of the website - and they won't even have to refresh the site so they can't see new discussions instantly.Send in the clowns.

Yes they can, shoutboxes have the option of displaying that information as it is submitted. -
They should make a way to turn the shoutbox discussions over a certain period of time into a thread in the off topic section. That way it would be indexed by search engines.

I know there's some sort of plugin on phpBB that creates a message in the shoutbox each time a new thread is made. Well, I'm talking about something that reverses that process and transforms shoutbox messages into thread messages.
Someone should develop such a plugin. -

I don't mean copy and paste the messages from the shoutbox into a thread. I meant, like, a plugin that automatically transforms the messages from the shoutbox into posts in a thread in the chronological order they were posted in, assigning them to the members who posted them.

/prune command
Commonly requested, this allows anyone with the appropriate permission to clear the shoutbox. Unlike the community-made prune button, this will save any new messages to your archive thread, if enabled.

On my site I am using the Siropu Chat and I have it set as the bar at the bottom so while I have a shoutbox it's not taking up real estate on the actual forum page and will hopefully keep people more active in the forum discussions as opposed to talking about everything in the shoutbox. That is one feature I really love about that chat system.
