  • I've used PHP since PHP 3.0, and although I know it fairly well, I'll probably buy one of those things (books?) on PHP7. Been a while since I actually bought a code book.

Quote from Rinalds: “It would be better to start with php but it's not necessary. You can go Laravel. Also as soon as you will know one language it will be easier to learn others. ” what? Laravel is a PHP framework. They're both PHP. How could you learn Laravel, and then PHP?

I had it running on a local server, at least the crawling process. I was collecting gigabytes of data and keeping it indefinitely, so that can be a concern if you plan to index many sites. The search feature was a public address. Another potential issue is if your host frowns upon long running PHP scripts.

I've used Sphider - a php spider and search engine You have to install it yourself on a server, but it's pretty flexible, respects robots.txt, etc.

If you don't know PHP, you need to learn PHP before you get into Laravel. That's the same with any "framework" you use. You wouldn't learn to drive by getting in a race car.

  • htaccess rules cascade down through subforums, so for the most part, you can add them all in one file. If that wasn't the case, you'd need a htaccess file in each directory of your installation. If you add them to one file, you just need to make sure they rules don't overwrite one another.

Yes, people should double check any of Adam's links for referral codes that he doesn't mention in the post. Although his signature that makes that claim is only available to be seen by registered members. :1f62c:

  • No amount if htaccess tweaking that Adam Howard suggests is going to work if people can't get to your site. I haven't been able to run a trace to your site either off and on. You don't have your site's DNS configured at more than one place do you? And anybody that complains about Linux should just GTFO of this thread because it won't help this situation. Quote: “Note that tracert does not necessarily have the same results as your browser which can load additional stuff. ” None of that matters if…

  • So you have a new IPB license, but no forum setup yet? This, I can almost believe. I'm glad Lindy didn't ban your "tnn" name from IPB after he made a threat to litigate your other userid. Do all of these criteria define one of your sites that you claim to have, or is it part of a multitude of sites? 600,000 posts 100,000 members online 24x7. Elderly members IPB license + WBB license rolled into one! I'll even add a screen capture of your XF license, as it provides as much evidence that you admin…

Quote from Adam: “Quote from transient: “I think your summary about Iraq is less credible without military experience to back you up. ” I don't think anyone needs to have military experience to discuss the political or social aspects. After all, our politicians seem to do so all the time. Many of them clueless and yet often mistaken for creditable. I'd also argue that the general public after all is picking up the tab, so they too have earned a voice concerning Iraq. But I digress; opinions are …

If you do it within PHP, test that a few old pages are being redirected correctly before you make it permanent. I had a PHP Header problem one time in which only the main home page would redirect to SSL.

  • If you look back 10 years at a company, and think to yourself, "Wow, I didn't realize how good I had it back then", then it's a crappy company. Tapatalk hasn't added value to it's clients in the last 10 years. It's only focused on it's on survivability with the introduction of yet even more apps, people leaving for social media, and responsive based themes.

  • Eventually, I think SSL will just become the new norm for hosting packages, if it can be setup more automatically. Let'sEcrypt may help with that. Hopefully, making SSL more "set it and forget it" doesn't make it more vulnerable. There's a reason why it takes a little bit extra work.
