  • Not that I am aware of. I haven't seen anything on this on other forums. Maybe it is do to a faulty update? Or maybe a plugin that recently updates is interfering?

Quote from BB8: “I hope decentralized "social networks" like Diaspora will succeed the current centralized ones. ” I misunderstood. I had no idea this was an actual social network. I have to look into it now, sounds interesting.

  • Maybe the people who developed free plugins decided to make an earning for their work? I know some people start out with free options to get their name out there but later charge for better ones.

Quote from BB8: “Hooray for the beauty of handing over your passwords to other people's computers. That said, it shouldn't matter how complex your password is. If you can't remember your password in your head, it is the wrong password. If the particular web application doesn't have brute-force prevention and password salts which are the only two reasons why anyone could "hack" your password, you should delete your account with them immediately. ” Most people can't remember that many passwords un…

I am not sure if I have or not. I mean I have had people approach me with scams or copy-writed work for my blog but I don't think that is Black Hat related.

  • I wish I could share something helpful but I have only been a part of a successful forum, never the owner of one. I mainly focus on my blog these days but I will be launching a forum soon enough to run along side that.

My rankings go up and down until they become established. I noticed that the more people share/like it on Facebook, the more Google likes it. I have a few blog posts that show as number one thanks to Facebook.

  • Keywords

I think Google does pay attention to them actually. Specially when you are linking in on Adsense. I always make sure I use them. I think anything worth valuing online needs keywords to be shown in searches. There is so much content online these days it would be silly to pass up such a simple task and risk not having your content found.

I think as of now, it is not important but it could be in the future. I personally never make people use their social accounts but I do give the option to link them.

As far as social media goes and social networking, what do you think will be next? Do you think it is worth having sign-ups and sign-ins using Facebook and Twitter accounts to better the chances of a forum staying successful? Will there be a new big social network that will over take the top two?

If you use a basic password like that, than it is your own fault. That is as bad as using "PASSWORD" and "keepout". People need to learn the beauty of using LastPass and cryptic passwords.

  • Depends on what I am trying to promote. For forums I mainly use Twitter, Tumblr, and Reddit. For blogs I use Twitter, Tumblr, Stumbled Upon, Pinterest, and Instagram.

  • I am curious if anyone on here screens for mods or admins before they take them on. I feel that it is very important to do this because you do not want to risk something bad happening to your forum.

  • I never got to the point of being with untrusting admins on my forums. I feel like you should NEVER give any admin full power over your forum, no matter who they are because they can make a mistake and mess something up. I was an admin on a few different forums and would never even access the admin panel unless I had to or the owner was around working with me. It is just too risky.

  • Quote from Paul: “I'm all for giving people chances. Once it becomes obvious that a member's only intention is to stir things up, they are gone. If you keep the disruptive members around, you stand the chance of losing other members who aren't out to cause trouble, it isn't worth the risk. ” Good point. I mean if they continue to act the same way over and over, you risk the chance at losing valuable members.

The forum I will be helping manage has over 1 million posts and 6000 members. This is not including all the posts in private groups/chats on the forum. If you are passionate about your niche and starting it up, it is not hard to find people the problem is competing with other forums for the same niche.
